MacTube® Coastal
Our MacTube® was developed for coastal and marine engineering applications and is used in the construction of sea defences, dune reconstruction, breakwaters and groins. Their size is varied depending on the needs of the project.
MacTubes® are made from a woven geotextile tube, made of high tenacity polypropylene fibres, with high strength seams and filled with the locally available slurried sand (or similar). The MacTube® is UV resistant, has a high mechanical resistance and high durability. The sand slurry is pumped into the MacTube® tube through filling ports. The water component of the slurry drains out through the walls of the tube, leaving the sand within.
They can also be used in the construction of river breakwaters within larger river works.
MacTube® Dewatering
Our range of dewatering MacTubes® are tubular geotextile containers that are used to increase the efficiency of the dewatering of slurries. They enable the on-site treatment of a wide range of both natural and contaminated fluid sludges. Dewatering features MacTube® geosynthetic tubes which are filled in-situ with a pumped slurry; the fluid drains through the fabric walls, leaving the solid residues within the tube. Once the residue has dried it can be disposed of far more safely and cost effectively than wet, slurried material. The use of site-specific flocculants is common to accelerate the filtration process.
The dewatering and drying of sludge is a technology with low environmental impact and cost.
